J. Krystal Ascencio M.D.

Dr. J. Krystal Ascencio serves as the Acting-Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Director of Ambulatory Women’s Health at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

She completed her undergraduate studies at SUNY Albany where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She went on to earn her medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her residency training at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. Dr Ascencio earned a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) with a focus on medical management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Dr Ascencio joined the team at Jamaica Hospital in 2019 and is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She has a passion for community health and is an advocate for health literacy. This passion leads to an interest in minimally invasive surgery and a holistic approach to patient care. Her practice has spanned over 2 decades and in this time, she has engaged in group, private and hospital-based practice settings.
