About Me: Graduated from CUNY (Queens College) with a Bachelors of Arts in Family Nutrition and Exercise Science. Studied Biological Anthropology as well. Started my career in 2000 with WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program providing nutrition education to prenatal women and their new born infants and children. Developed a strong passion for breastfeeding and achieved my Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certificate in 2003. Along the way, I became more involved with community outreach promoting breastfeeding in Queens county as a member of the Queens Breastfeeding Alliance.
Because of the joy and satisfaction from working with breastfeeding mothers, I became involved in achieving Baby Friendly Designation for Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. As Breastfeeding Coordinator for WIC, I was able to train Peer Counselors for WIC, obtained an award of excellence for Breastfeeding from the United States Department of Agriculture and then achieved my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) license in 2016. At the Dental Department in Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, I conducted assessments after frenectomies for breastfeeding dyads. Shortly after in 2017, I joined the team at Flushing Hospital Medical Center (OBGYN Department) with assisting in Baby Friendly Designation and providing breastfeeding services to mothers after delivery of their new born infant.
Over the years, my patients taught me how to be able to understand empathetically their success and struggles of motherhood. My gratitude is extended to every mother who has shared their journey with me adding to my confidence because my goal is to provide unconditional love and delivering quality breastfeeding support to every family. Each and every mother deserves to be treated with dignity and culturally appropriate tenderness regardless of their choice of feeding for their baby.
